At the pinnacle of leadership resides 2 items: 1) People Management – you helping others manage their authentic selves – their mind, will, imagination, emotions, and their intellect, in order to perform their roles effectively and 2) Performance Management – helping your subordinates be productive which involved attaining goals and objectives. Once the KPIs or OKRs are set, now it is time for you to manage you team members effectively so they can meet, better yet, exceed, the identified metrics. That being said, here’s a step-by-step process to help you guide your team towards achieving their KPIs / OKRs:
- Understand the KPIs / OKRs: Begin by thoroughly understanding, and explaining, the KPIs that have been set for each team member. Ensure that these KPIs / OKRs are specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART).
- Communication: (Complete Communication Technique) Open communication is key. Discuss the KPIs / OKRs with each team member individually. Make sure they understand what is expected of them and how their performance will be measured.
